Princeton, N.J. - Senior Kevin Volz captured the 1,650-yard freestyle in his last dual-meet as a Princeton Tiger as the Orange and Black from Old Nassau swam to a 174-111 victory over Navy on Saturday afternoon at DeNunzio Pool.
Princeton built an early lead with the 200-yard medley relay team, consisting of Pat Donahue, Garth Fealey, Carl Hessler and Jesse Gage, swimming to a five-second win with a time of 1:32.89. Hessler followed Volz's victory in the 1650 free with a win in the 200-yard freestyle (1:42.43) and Kevin Walsh followed that with his victory in the 100-yard backstroke (51.82).
Gage won both the 50- and 100-yard freestyle events and Jeremy Tillman followed up two victories in the breaststroke against Columbia last night with a win in the 100-yard breast (56.77) today. Juan Valdivieso won the 200-yard butterfly and Donahue won the 200-yard backstroke for Princeton.
The Tigers also got help from Hallett Johnson (200 breast) and Justin Chiles (500 free) to win their second straight dual-meet and improve to 7-2 overall. Princeton will compete in the EISL Championships in Cambridge, Mass. from Thursday-Saturday, Feb. 28-March 2.
