Will Evans will try to become the fourth straight Princeton player to win the individual national squash championship, though it won't be easy.
Evans, the No. 3 seed, defeated second-seeded Michael Ferreira of Trinity College 10-9, 9-5, 9-10, 9-2 in one semifinal Saturday night at Jadwin Gym to advance to Sunday's final (1:30, Jadwin main court).
Waiting for him will be the prohibitive favorite, Bernard Samper of Trinity, who swept past defending champion David Yik of Princeton 9-5, 9-4, 9-2.
Yik, the five seed, won the championship last year, while his older brother Peter won it the two years before then.
Regardless of who wins the final, the individual champion will come from either Trinity or Princeton for the sixth straight year.
Trinity won the national team championship, defeating Princeton in the final. The Tigers won the Ivy League championship.
Evans avenged an earlier three-game loss to Ferreira.
"Will played a great match," said Princeton coach Bob Callahan. "It certainly will be difficult in the final. Samper, from Colombia, is a great player."
