Water Polo Wins Two On Second Day Of Inter-Regionals

PRINCETON, N.J. - Seventeen players on the men's water polo scored at least one goal in Princeton's two wins today, as the Tigers defeated Penn State Behrend, 16-2, and Johns Hopkins, 14-6 and advanced to the championship game of the Inter-Regional Competition.
Princeton took a quick lead against Penn State Behrend when Mike McKenna, Victor Wakefield, Nicholas Seaver, Sean Dryden and Eric Murphy each had a first-quarter goal. The Tigers led 5-1 at the end of the first, 8-2 at halftime and 12-2 at the end of the third.
Dryden and Spencer Rawles finished with a team-high three goals apiece while Murphy, Wakefield and Peter Sabbatini each had two. Penn State Behrend scored both of their goals on 6-on-5's in the first half. The Tigers then faced Johns Hopkins, who defeated Slippery Rock and Bucknell in the first two games of the Inter-Regionals. Princeton dominated from the start with a 6-0 first quarter shutout and an 8-1 halftime lead. Reid Joseph scored two goals in the first half.
In the third quarter, Dean Riskas, D.J. Halliday and Seaver each scored one and Dan McKenna scored two to give the Tigers a decisive 13-4 lead. Seaver scored again in the fourth to seal the 14-6 win.
Kyle Morgan finished with three steals while Sabbatini had five goals, one steal and two assists in the first half alone. Gant Morgner replaced him in goal for the second half, when he made four saves and assisted on one goal.
The Tigers advance to the championship game tomorrow at 12 p.m. in DeNunzio Pool.
