Women's Cross Country Finishes Second At NCAA Regionals; Qualify For NCAA Championship

Lock Haven, Pa. - The Princeton women's cross country team qualified to race at the 2003 NCAA Cross Country Championship in Waterloo, Iowa with a second-place finish at the NCAA Regional this afternoon in Lock Haven, Pa. Princeton's Emily Kroshus finished second overall in the race while Cack Ferrell placed fifth in the 176-runner field.
Georgetown finished first-overall on the day, earning 56 points and having a time of 1:43.56. Hoya Treniere Clement won the race in a time of 20:02. Princeton was 32 seconds behind Georgetown and earned 78 points. Behind Kroshus and Ferrell, Laura Petrillo placed 21st, Carrie Strickland was 24th, Meredith Lambert was 26th, Pilar Marin placed 40th and Catha Mullen was 47th.
Princeton will next compete at the NCAA Championships, hosted by Northern Iowa in two weeks. The Tigers will be making their second team appearance at the Championships, bringing their top seven. The last time Princeton sent its team to NCAA's was in 1982.
