Women's Swimming Sweeps Penn and Cornell

Ithaca, N.Y. - The Princeton women's swimming and diving team opened up its Ivy League schedule with a sweep of Penn and Cornell Saturday at Teagle Pool. Princeton is now 5-0 overall and 2-0 in the Ivy League. The Tigers topped Cornell 202-90 and Penn 183-106.
The Tigers dominated the meet, taking first place in 13 of the 16 events. The Tigers opened the meet with a win in the 200-yard medley by the foursome of senior Claire Pearson, junior Stephanie Hsiao, junior Amy Jones and freshman Sobenna George. Next, in Event 2, freshman Kelly Hannigan set a pool record of 4:28.11 in the 400 yard IM.
Jones claimed first place honors in the 200-yard freestyle and sophomore Kitsie Kerner won the 100-yard backstroke before Hsiao set a pool record in the 100-yard backstroke at 1:04.82.
George claimed first in the 50-yard freestyle and Jones won her second event in the 100-yard freestyle. Senior Lauren Rossi won the 200-yard breaststroke and sophomore Eileen Altenberger placed first in the 500-yard freestyle.
Princeton freshman Michelle Demond swept both diving events, placing first in the 1-meter and 3-meter events.
