Princeton Tops Harvard For First EIWA Win Of The Season

The Princeton wrestling team earned its first EIWA win of the season tonight over Harvard. Down 19-16 in the team score with a match remaining, Joe Looke scored a two-point take-down in the third period to earn the win and move Princeton into a 19-19 tie and a win on criterion h, as the Tigers held a 4-3 advantage in total near falls. Princeton is now 2-6 overall and 1-3 in EIWA action.
Harvard won the first two matches of the day to take a 7-0 lead. David Germakian defeated Seth Dunipace 5-2 at 125 and then Max Meltzer earned a major decision over Brian Kirschbaum at 133.
Princeton's first win came at 141 as Joe Clarke claimed an 11-7 decision over Michael Baria. Harvard countered in the next match and took a 13-3 team lead when Jesse Jantzen pinned Matt Piselli at the 0:59 mark at 149. Princeton also earned a win at 157 from Milo Adams. Harvard's Robbie Griffin, and Pat O'Donnel earned decisions in the next two matches to give Harvard a 19-6 lead with three matches remaining in the event.
At 184, No. 7 Greg Parker shut out and earned a major decision over PJ Jones. In the next match, Matt Fisher pinned Eddie Jones at 3:31 to move Princeton within three points in the team scoring.
In the final match at heavyweight Joe Looke earned a 3-1 decision over Jonas Carl to make the score 19-19. The match was even at 1-1 in the third period when Looke scored a takedown to give him the points he needed for the win.
Princeton claimed the win as the Tigers won on the eighth tiebreaker, having a greater number of total near falls points.
