Evans, El Halaby Advance To National Squash Final

Will Evans, the third seed, defeated second-seeded Bernardo Samper of Trinity 9-3, 1-9, 3-9, 10-8, 4-0 (default) to advance to the championship match of the Collegiate Squash Association individual championships at Trinity Saturday evening.
Samper had defeated Evans in last year's intercollegiate championship match.
Princeton's Yasser El Halaby, the No. 1 seed, defeated Trinity's No. 2, Michael Ferreira, in the other semifinal, rallying from two games down to win 6-9, 7-9, 9-3, 9-7, 9-1.
El Halaby advances to face Evans in an all-Princeton final (Sunday, 1). Princeton is guaranteed its fourth individual national champion in the last five years.
Evans had earlier defeated Nick Kyme, Trinity's No. 3 player, in the quarterfinals to advance to face Samper, who took out the 2000 champion, Princeton senior David Yik, in another quarterfinal.
El Halaby, the dynamic freshman, defeated Penn's No. 1, Richard Repetto in the quarterfinals in three games and then took out Ferreira in the semifinals. Ferreira was the fourth seed.
On the women's side, Princeton's Ruchika Kumar los tto Michelle Quibell of Yale in the quarterfinals 9-2, 9-4, 9-1 of the championship draw, named the Gail Ramsay Cup in honor of the Princeton coach who is the only four-time individual national champion in intercollegiate squash history.
Amina Helal of Trinity, who defeated Quibell in the semifinals, will face Penn's Runa Reta in the championship match of the Ramsay Cup Sunday afternoon.
