Anderson Scores Twice as Women's Hockey Defeats Vermont 5-0

Gretchen Anderson scored at 5:32 of the first period to put Princeton ahead for good as the Tigers shut out Vermont 5-0 and clinched third-place in the ECAC standings Sunday afternoon at Baker Rink. Princeton will now host Yale next weekend in a best-of-three series at Baker Rink to advance to the ECAC final four the following weekend in Providence, R.I.
The Tigers used a three-goal second period to put the game out of reach. Nikola Holmes tallied her third goal in two games at 3:42 to put Princeton ahead 2-0 on a goal assisted by her sister Annamarie Holmes. Princeton added two more goals in a 34-second span late in the period when Anderson recorded her second of the game and Susan Hobson posted her fifth of the season.
Becky Stewart capped the scoring for Princeton at 6:10 of the third period as the Tigers went on to claim the 5-0 win.
Megan Van Beusekom earned the win in net for Princeton. She stopped three shots over the first two periods. Senior goaltender Sarah Ahlquist came in for the third period and turned aside six Catamount shots. Tiffany Hayes made 43 saves in the loss.
