Water Polo Wins Fourth Straight In Home Tournament

PRINCETON, N.J. - John Stover scored four goals and Jamal Motlagh and Chris Kelsch each added two to lead the men's water polo team past Iona, 10-6, in the final game of the North/South Invitational at DeNunzio Pool.
Stover, Kelsch and Dean Riskas scored in the first period for an early 3-1 lead. Iona's only goal came from a 4-meter shot.
Stover and Seaver scored in the second quarter but Iona stayed in the game by scoring at the 2-meter, off a counterattack and off another 4-meter. Princeton led 5-4 at halftime.
In the third quarter, the Tigers dominated offensively and scored four goals while holding Iona scoreless. Motlagh had a counterattack goal and a cross-cage skip shot, which was set up by Dan McKenna. Stover and Kelsch also scored in the third to give Princeton the 9-4 lead going into the fourth.
Stover scored his fourth goal of the game and Iona scored two more for a final score of Princeton 10, Iona 6. Peter Sabbatini had five saves in goal to go along with two steals.
"The guys started the weekend with fire and kept it burning throughout the whole weekend," assistant coach Serela Kay said. "The key in the future is to stay fired up."
Princeton (4-0) next travels to George Washington on Sept. 19.
