Women's Hockey Completes Weekend Sweep With 4-2 Win at Cornell

Ithaca, N.Y. - The Princeton women's hockey team completed its ECAC weekend sweep with a 4-2 win at Cornell Saturday afternoon. Four Tigers scored goals and freshman Dina McCumber posted two assists as Princeton improved to 11-5-0 overall and 4-3-0 in the ECAC.
Princeton started strong skated to a 3-0 lead before Cornell hit the scoreboard. The Tigers opened the scoring at 16:39 of the first period when senior Gretchen Anderson posted her 19th goal of the season. Freshman Kate Hession posted the assist on the goal, which was the first point of her career.
The Tigers scored twice in the first 10 minutes of the second period to claim a 3-0 lead. First at 1:11 Kim Pearce made the score 2-0 with her fifth goal of the season, which was assisted by sophomore Sarah Butsch. Freshman Alison Ralph made the score 3-0 at the 8:24. McCumber posted the lone assist on Ralph's first career goal. Cornell moved within two goals when Jamie Ramenofsky scored at 15:08. In the third period, each team registered a goal to make the final score 4-2. At 14:16, freshman Laura Watt scored on the power play from sophomore Heather Jackson and McCumber. Less than two minutes later, Cornell's Caroline Scott scored to make the score 4-2.
Princeton senior goaltender Megan Van Beusekom made 21 saves to improve to 8-5-0 on the season, while Cornell's Flora Vineburg made 34 saves in the loss.
Princeton returns to action on Friday night, Jan. 30 when Harvard visits Baker Rink.
