PRINCETON - The Princeton wrestling team defeated Franklin & Marshall 40-8 to top off a festive Saturday for the program, which celebrated 100 Years of Princeton Wrestling with a day full of events.
While there was a luncheon prior and a banquet to end the evening, many fans of Princeton will remember the excitement of the victory over a fellow EIWA program. Led by its three seniors, all of whom ended their home careers with wins, Princeton ended a two-week homestand with an exciting win.
Senior Audrey Pang opened the match with a forfeit win. Following a loss at 133 pounds, the Tigers went on a major run to put the match away. Eric Marcotulli started the run with a first-period pin, and Andrew Iannuzzi followed with a 14-6 win at 149 pounds. F&M got a technical fall at 157 pounds, but senior Charlie Wiggins made sure the momentum would be short-lived for the guests. The senior, who entered the night with a 2-1 record at Dillon Gym this season, pinned Matt Goggon in 53 seconds.
Following a technical fall from Matthew DeNichilo, senior Jack Fleming finished the memorable night for the Class of 2005 by outlasting Isaiah Hankel to earn a wild 11-10 victory at 184 pounds.
Jake Butler ended the night by moving up to heavyweight and defeating Shawn Coughlin 9-0.
