No. 5 Men's Squash Upsets No. 4 Penn To Advance To National Semifinals

BOSTON - The Princeton men's squash team advanced to the semifinals of the Potter Cup 'A' Division, which will crown the team national champion. The No. 5 Tigers upset No. 4 Penn 8-1 to advance to Saturday's battle against No. 1 Trinity.
The Tigers got a trio of 3-0 wins, including a dominant win at No. 1 from two-time defending national champion Yasser El Halaby, who topped Gilly Lane 9-1, 9-1, 9-0. Freshman Robert Hong and sophomore Vincent Yu both added 3-0 wins, while four other Tigers took 3-1 wins.
Freshman Tim Callahan won the most dramatic result of the evening, taking a 9-6 decision in the fifth game to win at No. 8. Princeton will now face Trinity, which defeated the Tigers in the finals to win the 2003 national championship. The match will feature a showdown at No. 1 between El Halaby, the 2003 and 2004 national champion, and Bernardo Samper, the 2002 national champion. El Halaby swept Samper 3-0 two weeks ago at Jadwin Gym.
