Tiger Contingent Finishes Sixth at IC4A Championships

Princeton finished in sixth place overall out of 15 teams at the IC4A Cross Country Championships at Van Cortlandt Park Saturday, with an unheralded group of runners fashioning a solid performance.
Sophomore Bryan Sharkey was Princeton's top finisher, placing eighth overall in a time of 25:21.9 on the famous five-mile course in New York City. Senior Eric Beights gave the Tigers two runners in the top 20, finishing 19th in a time of 25:43.4.
Elliot Welder, a freshman, gave Princeton three finishers in the top 40. Welder finished in 39th in a time of 26:09.
Princeton's sixth-place score was 176. William and Mary's won the race with a score of 45, placing four runners in the top 10.
Princeton's final two scorers in the event were freshman Tim Branigan, who was 56th overall, and senior Jeff Byrne, who was in 80th place.
