Wrestling Drops Pair At Bucknell, Eyes Home Opener Against Maryland

LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Princeton wrestling team dropped a pair of matches Saturday afternoon on the road. Two Princeton wrestlers, Alex Enriquez and Kris Berr, picked up wins in the opener, but Binghamton pulled away early for a 36-6 win. Host Bucknell was dominant in the second match, claiming a 46-0 win.
After Princeton trailed 7-0 after two matches, Enriquez picked up a 5-2 win over Brett Terry. Following a promising freshman campaign two seasons ago, the former Florida state champion missed all of last year with an injury, but his victory showed the potential he has to be a young leader for this Tiger squad.
A pair of close losses and a pin put Princeton in a deep hole, but Berr picked up another hard-fought 7-5 win at heavyweight. One of the more experienced wrestlers in the lineup, Berr will need to a veteran presence in the lineup as the heart of the EIWA season draws nearer.
Princeton will make its home debut Sunday, Dec. 10, against Maryland. For head coach Chris Ayres, the 2 p.m. showdown will be his first in the friendly confines of Dillon Gym.
