PRINCETON - Senior Matt DeNichilo continued his red-hot streak for the Princeton wrestling team, but unfortunately his injury-plagued squad was no match for Columbia Friday night in the Tigers' home opener. Princeton fell 43-3 to Columbia and face a tough match Saturday against No. 14 Cornell.
DeNichilo provided Princeton's only win with a 9-5 decision over Kenji Porter. That cut Columbia's lead to 8-3, but Columbia followed up with a pair of pins and a major decision at 285 pounds to build a substantial lead.
2005 NCAA qualifier Jake Butler was unavailable to wrestle following a knee injury last weekend at Brown. His status for Saturday is uncertain.
Princeton will host Cornell at 2 p.m. on Saturday before traveling to Rider for a 7 p.m. showdown.
