Men's Squash Stays Perfect With 9-0 Sweep Of Brown
December 06, 2008 | Men's Squash
The Princeton men's squash team took great pride in sweeping every individual match of the 2007-08 Ivy League season, and the current Tigers are building on that performance. Princeton won all 27 individual games in a 9-0 road win against Brown to improve to 4-0 overall, 2-0 in the Ivy League.
Princeton was once again led by its top player and the two-time Ivy League Player of the Year, Mauricio Sanchez. The senior from Mexico City defeated Adrian Leanza 9-3, 9-0, 9-3 in the No. 1 match. Playing behind Sanchez was junior David Canner, who topped Benjamin Clayman 9-3, 9-5, 9-1. The top freshman in the lineup was Chris Callis, who swept Adam Greenberg 9-1, 9-7, 9-7. Callis was followed by classmate Kelly Shannon, who escaped the opener with a 9-8 win against Patrick Davis and followed with 9-1 and 9-1 wins.
Getting the day off Saturday were some of Princeton's top players, including seniors Kimlee Wong and Hesham El Halaby. Reigning Ivy League Rookie of the Year David Letourneau also sat the Brown match out.
Princeton will head to Williamstown, Mass., for a Sunday tri-meet with host Williams and Bowdoin.
