#2 Men's Squash Hosts '09 Home Finale Before Showdown At #3 Rochester
December 10, 2009 | Men's Squash
Princeton is 4-0 this season, ranked second nationally and is beginning to get healthy after early injury issues. One good sign that came out of last week's sweep of Brown and Bates was the return of 2009 Ivy League Rookie of the Year Chris Callis. The Tigers have gotten an undefeated start from its top two players, freshman Todd Harrity and junior David Letourneau. Like Callis, Letourneau is a previous winner of the Ivy League Rookie of the Year honor; Harrity is now the clear frontrunner for the 2010 honor.
Navy has a strong corps of freshmen who have helped the Midshipmen to a national best 13 team victories, but the leader on the court is No. 1 player Nils Mattsson. The winner of six of his last seven matches, Mattsson is a graduate of the nearby Lawrenceville School.
Following Friday's match, Princeton will head to Rochester for a key battle with the Yellowjackets, who finished third in the CSA team championships last year and are currently ranked third nationally this season. With teams battling to remain in the national top three, and thus avoid Trinity until the national team final, the winner of this match will earn a key step forward on that chase. Prince-ton topped Rochester 8-1 in the semifinal last year.
