Women's Hockey Rallies for 2-2 Tie at Quinnipiac

HAMDEN, Conn. (12/31/09) -- The Princeton women's hockey team rallied with two goals in the third period to forge a 2-2 tie at Quinnipiac on Thursday afternoon in an ECAC Hockey game at the TD BankNorth Sports Center.
After a scoreless first period, Quinnipiac built a 2-0 lead in the first four minutes of the second period on the Bobcats first two shots of the second period. Janine Duffy scored an even strength goal at 2:19 of the period and Regan Boulton connected on the power play less than two minutes later.
The Tigers cut the lead in half a minute into the third period when Charissa Stadnyk scored her first goal of the season on the power play. The goal came from just inside the hash marks of the left faceoff circle where she lifted a shot over the shoulder of Quinnipiac goalie Victoria Vigilanti. Julie Johnson and Heather Landry claimed assists on the goal.
Princeton then drew even with just 1:55 left on the clock when senior Melanie Wallace put a rebound in the Quinnipiac net. Alex Kinney took the initial shot and assisted on the goal.
Princeton outshot Quinnipiac 32-19 in the tie. Vigilante made 30 saves, including three in overtime for Quinnipiac. Princeton's Rachel Weber started the game and allowed both goals. Cassie Seguin earned the tie in relief and made 13 saves.
Princeton is now 7-8-2 overall and 5-4-2 in the ECAC. Princeton and Quinnipiac conclude their home and home series on Saturday at Baker Rink at 1 p.m.
