Women's Hockey Season Ends With 4-1 Loss at Harvard

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (2/27/10) - The Princeton women's hockey team dropped a 4-1 decision to Harvard on Saturday afternoon in Game 2 of the ECAC Quarterfinal series.
Princeton fell behind early as Kate Buesser put the Crimson ahead in the ninth minute. Harvard added goals from Kaitlin Spurling at 4:08 and Liza Ryabkina at 6:40 of the second to build a 3-0 lead. Harvard controlled the tempo through the first two periods, building a 25-5 shot edge through 40 minutes.
Melanie Wallace put Princeton on the board at 6:19 of the third period with an unassisted tally, but Princeton could get no closer, and the Crimson sealed the win on Jillian Dempsey's empty-net goal.
Harvard outshot Princeton 39-16. Rachel Weber made 35 saves in the loss while Laura Bellamy got the win with 15.
With the loss, Princeton ends its season at 13-14-4.
