PRINCETON (2/5/10) - Danielle DiCesare had a hand in all three Princeton goals but the Tigers couldn't overcome an early deficit in a 4-3 loss at Colgate on Friday night at Starr Rink.
Princeton took three penalties in the first 10 minutes of the game and Colgate capitalized on the third chance when Jenna Klynstra scored at 9:10. Stephanie Denino drew Princeton even with her first goal of the season at 14:06, returning to the Princeton lineup after being injured during intersession, and DiCesare had the lone assist on the goal.
Colgate regained the two-goal lead with less than two minutes left in the opening stanza as Katie Stewart put Colgate ahead for good. A power-play goal at 7:30 of the second by Beth Rotenberg made it 3-1 Colgate. The Tigers again trimmed the lead to a goal as Melanie Wallace scored with the man advantage at 15:30. Her sixth goal of the season came with assists to Denino and DiCesare.
Colgate again stretched its lead to two goals with six minutes left in regulation on Evan Minnick's power-play goal. Colgate then held on as Princeton pressured over the closing minutes, eventually pulling with a goal when DiCesare scored her ninth of the season with 13 seconds remaining and Tiger goaltender Cassie Seguin pulled for the extra attacker. Wallace and Corey Stearns had assists.
