Men's Water Polo Edged by 13th-ranked St. Francis in ECAC Semis
September 19, 2010 | Men's Water Polo
Princeton held the now 8-0 Terriers to their lowest goal output of the season. The loss snaps Princeton's four-game win streak and drops the Tigers to 4-2 this season. Princeton will play for third place at ECACs on Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. against 20th-ranked Bucknell.
The game was tight thoughout with neither team taking full control. Tied at six with two minutes left, St. Francis scored the go-ahead goal. Princeton has two good chance to even the game up with six-on-five chances in the final two minutes but was unable to draw even. The final chance came as time expired when the Tigers were able to get the ball into the cage but it came just after time had expired.
Mike Helou led all Princeton scorers with two goals. Chris Cottrell, Tommy Donahue, Jack Ruth and Connor Still added single goals. Mike Merlone made 10 saves in goal, matching his season high.
