St. Lawrence Upends Women's Hockey 4-1

CANTON, N.Y. (11/11/11) - The Princeton women's hockey team had a four-game unbeaten streak snapped in a 4-1 loss to St. Lawrence at Appleton Arena on Friday, Nov. 11.
St. Lawrence had a 2-1 lead at the end of the first period and added two more goals in the second period and the score would stand.
Karell Emard scored 3:20 into the game when she took a pass from Rylee Smith and wristed a shot stick side on senior Rachel Weber.
Freshman Brianna Leahy score an unassisted goal on a breakaway to knot the game at 1-1, at 10:40. St. Lawrence tried to slide a pass from behind the net but it was intercepted by Leahy who quickly pushed the puck over the goal line for her second tally of the year.
Bailey Habscheid gave the Saints back the lead less than four minutes later when she beat Weber on one-on-one.
St. Lawrence put the game out of reach with a pair of tallies by Smith and Mel Desrochers just 1:13 apart early in the second period.
The Tigers couldn't get the momentum going in the third, trying to fight off three penalties.
St. Lawrence outshot Princeton by a mere five shots, 35-30. Weber made 31 saves for the Tigers, while Caitlyn Lahonen stopped 29 shots.
Princeton falls to 4-2-1 overall and 3-1-1 in the league with its first ECAC Hockey loss of the season. St. Lawrence improves to 5-3-3 and 2-2-1 in league play.
The Tigers will head across town to take on Clarkson tomorrow, Saturday, Nov. 12 for a 4 p.m. game. The Golden Knights topped Quinnipiac by a 3-0 score this evening.
