Letourneau Earns National Honor As Tigers Ready For Squash Finale
February 18, 2011 | Men's Squash
Coming off his dramatic win over the second-ranked player in the nation, Princeton senior David Letourneau heads into his final regular season weekend as the Harrow Men's Squash Player of the Week.
Letourneau, a three-time All-America honoree and a Top-5 player nationally, had dropped four straight matches to Trinity's Parth Sharma, who was ranked second in the latest national individual rankings (behind Princeton sophomore Todd Harrity). Letourneau made his final home match a memorable one with a 10-12, 11-7, 11-3, 11-5 victory; the win kept his undefeated season alive and should send him into the team championships with the highest level of confidence.
Princeton, which will likely enter the CSA team championships next week at Harvard as the third seed, has a little more work left before it can turn its attention to the team championships. The Tigers will head to Navy for a Saturday afternoon showdown with the 23-5 Midshipmen, who are currently ranked 16th nationally. Navy is a rising program in college squash with impressive facilities, though it has struggled against Ivy League competition; the Midshipmen are 0-3 against Ivy squads.
