Men's Squash Rallies Past Rochester To Earn Third At Team Championships
February 28, 2011 | Men's Squash
Despite an early 3-0 deficit, the Princeton men's squash team earned third place at the CSA national team championships Sunday afternoon with a 5-4 victory over Rochester.
Wins at the 3, 6 and 9 spots in the first shift led the Rochester Yellowjackets to a big early lead, but Princeton showed its resilience by chipping away and ultimately taking the match. Senior co-captain David Letourneau kept his undefeated season going with a 3-0 win at No. 2, and fellow co-captain Peter Sopher defeated Hameed Ahmed 3-1 at No. 5.
The momentum shift came at the No. 8 spot, where Princeton's Clay Blackiston trailed both 1-0 and 2-1, but he rallied with wins of 11-1 and 11-7 to even the match.
Princeton earned the team win with a 3-0 win at No. 1 from sophomore Todd Harrity and at No. 4 from junior Kelly Shannon.
The Tiger men and women will now turn their attention to next weekend's CSA individual championships, being held at Dartmouth.
