Volleyball Makes 2011 Home Debut Tuesday Against Seton Hall
September 20, 2011 | Women's Volleyball
With the Ivy League season just around the corner, the 2011 Princeton women's volleyball team will make its home debut Tuesday night with a 7 p.m. showdown against Big East in-state rival Seton Hall.
Princeton will look to continue an impressive season trend when it welcomes the Pirates to Dillon Gym; the Tigers have gone 2-0 against the Big East this season. Princeton rallied late for a 3-2 win at St. John's on Sept. 7, and three days later it took out the Scarlet Knights in the final match of the Rutgers Tournament.
The Tigers have been led by All-Ivy middle Cathryn Quinn, who ranks atop the team in both kills (3.53) and blocks (1.03). A pair of freshmen have made big contributions already this season; outside Sarah Hanna currently ranks second in kills with 2.73 per set, while Ginny Willis leads the team in assists with 8.88 per set.
Tuesday night also marks the home debut for Sabrina King '01, who was part of five Ivy League championship teams as either a player or coach for Princeton.
Princeton is coming off a 2-1 weekend and a second-place finish at the Lehigh/Lafayette Crosstown Tournament and carries a 7-4 record into Tuesday's match. The contest opens a four-match homestand for the Tigers, who will welcome Ivy League champion Penn to Dillon Gym Friday night for a 7 p.m. start in the Ivy League opener.
