Women's Hockey Doubles Up RMU, Sweeps Weekend

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. (10/20/12) - The Princeton women's hockey team doubled up Robert Morris in a 6-3 game on Saturday, Oct. 20 at RMU Island Sports Center. The Tigers sweep the weekend after defeating RIT 2-1 yesterday evening.
It was a senior showcase as Kelly Cooke and Corey Stearns each had four-point games. Cooke had two goals and two assists, while Stearns scored once and added three assists. Junior Sally Butler and sophomore Brianna Leahy had a goal and an assist apiece.
Freshman Kimberly Newell earned her second straight win, making 33 saves, as RMU outshot Princeton 36-20 in the game.
RMU had a 2-1 lead after the first period.
Cooke scored a short-handed goal early in the second and junior Rose Alleva gave Princeton its first lead of the game in the final minutes of the second period.
The Tigers weren't done yet as Butler and Leahy each scored in the first nine minutes of the third to grab a 5-2 lead.
Kristen Richards ended the Tigers' run with a goal at 13:27 but a goal by Cooke at 17:56 iced the win for Princeton.
Kristen DiCiocci made 12 saves in the first 48:55. Delayne Brian played the final 11:05 and made two stops on three shots.
Princeton plays its home opener and begins its quest for the ECAC title next weekend, Oct. 26 & 27 as it hosts Dartmouth and Harvard.
