Men's Hockey Edged 3-2 by Yale at Ivy Shootout
October 27, 2012 | Men's Ice Hockey
The Tigers, who fell 2-1 to the host Bears in the opening game on Friday, fell behind 1-0 late in the first period as Jesse Root scored a power-play goal. The Bulldogs took that 1-0 advantage into the first intermission, but the Tigers stormed back to start the second. Tyler Maugeri put Princeton on the scoreboard in the period's sixth minute with an assist from Eric Meland. Maugeri scored Princeton's lone goal in Friday's opener.
Andrew Calof scored his first goal of the season at 15:09 of the second period to give Princeton its first lead of the game and season. Defensemen Jeremy Goodwin and Michael Sdao notched assists on the goal. The lead was short-lived however as Yale drew even 13 seconds later on Agostino's goal, and Laganiere scored the game winner another 2:20 later.
Yale held a 34-27 edge on the Tigers in shots. Mike Condon made 31 saves in the loss, while Jeff Malcolm stopped 25 Tiger shots. Both teams scored once on the power play.
The Tigers are off next weekend, and return to action on Nov. 9 when Cornell visits Hobey Baker Rink at 7 p.m.
