February 13, 2012 | Wrestling
The Princeton wrestling team split a pair of home matches Sunday afternoon. After dropping a 36-9 decision to Clarion, the Tigers bounced back with a 24-12 victory over EIWA rival Frankin & Marshall.
Sophomores Seth Hazleton (149) and Dan Santoro (184) both posted perfect days on Sunday. Hazleton recorded a pin of Cameron Moran at the end of the second period to open Princeton's scoring against Clarion, and he followed up with a tight 3-2 win over Andrew Murano in the second match.
Santoro earned a 6-4 victory over Steven Cressley of Clarion for Princeton's second win of the opening match, and he won by the same score in the second match against Matt Latessa of F&M.
Despite going down 6-0 against F&M, Princeton rallied with seven straight wins to take its seventh win of the season. The run began with #13 Adam Krop, who scored an 8-2 win over Richard Durso at 141. Following Hazleton's win, freshman Kyle Roddy earned his first dual victory with a 2-0 win over Eric Norgard.
After a forfeit win at 165, Andy Lowy earned a 5-4 overtime win at 174 over Matt Latessa. Santoro moved Princeton's lead to 21-6, and 197-pound senior Kurt Brendel finished Princeton's scoring with a 7-4 win over Colin Ely.
Princeton will complete its regular season with a pair of tough EIWA matches next Saturday. The Tigers will host Penn Saturday at 1, and then will travel to Lehigh for a 7 pm match.
