September 22, 2013 | Men's Water Polo
The No. 13 Princeton men's water polo team extended its winning ways with a 9-5 victory over George Washington Sunday afternoon in Washington, D.C. The victory improves the Tigers to 6-0, 3-0 Southern after the second weekend of play in 2013.
Utilizing its veteran goalie tandem of Ben Dearborn and Alex Gow, Princeton's defensive line was superb in limiting the Colonial offense. Dearborn started and earned the victory, tallying five saves and an assist in the first and third quarters. Gow made 10 saves and a steal in the second and fourth quarters.
Jovan Jeremic led the first half offense with three goals, as the Tigers took a 6-4 lead over the opening quarters.
Princeton shutout GW in the third with Dearborn stopping both shots on frame, while the offense capitalized three times behind a pair of Thomas Nelson goals and a strike from Kurt Buchbinder.
Nelson had three goals, three steals and an assist.
The Colonial offense attempted a fourth quarter comeback, but Gow stopped six of their seven shots on goal to preserve Princeton's advantage.
Princeton remains on the road, heading out on a seven-game trip to Southern California from Sept. 27-29.
