Men's Water Polo Earns Pair of Wins Over Fordham, Iona

PRINCETON, N.J. - Jordan Colina posted nine goals on the day to help lead the ninth-ranked Princeton University men's water polo team to a pair of wins over Fordham University and Iona College.
Dispatching of the Rams in the morning session, 11-3, the Tigers edged out the Gaels in overtime, 13-12. Earlier this season, the Orange and Black secured a 20-11 decision over Iona.
With the victories, Princeton improved to 17-3 overall on the season. The Tigers return to action on Saturday, Nov. 1 at CWPA Southern Division rival Bucknell University.

Jordan Colina and Kayj Shannon each turned in a hat trick to help lead Princeton to an 11-3 victory over Fordham. Outscoring the Rams 3-1 in each of the first two frames, the Tigers carried a four-goal cushion into the intermission. Accounting for two of the three tallies in the third quarter, Princeton held a 3-0 scoring margin over the final eight minutes en route to an eight-goal margin of victory.
Going 2-0 on sprints, Colina added an assist and a steal. Drew Hoffenberg had two goals and two steals, with Curtis Fink, Jovan Jeremic and Connor McGoldrick combining for the Orange and Black's other scores. Fink also dished out a pair of helpers, while McGoldrick nabbed a team-high three steals.
Putting forth another solid showing in net, Vojislav Mitrovic finished with 11 saves. Making five stops in the first half, he tacked on three saves in each of the final two periods.

Buoyed by a career-high six goals from Jordan Colina and a pair of Drew Hoffenberg overtime scores, Princeton completed a Saturday sweep at DeNunzio Pool with a hard-fought 13-12 victory over Iona.
Down 7-6 at the half, the Tigers laid claim to two of the three goals in the third quarter to pull even at 8-8. With both teams netting three scores in the final eight minutes of regulation, Hoffenberg came up big, recording a tally in each of the extra sessions to put the home team ahead for good.
Finding the back of the net six times on just eight shots, Colina also went 6-0 on sprints while adding a team-high three steals. Hoffenberg had three goals, two assists and six drawn ejections, while Jovan Jeremic finished with two goals, an assist and a steal. Sam Butler and Kayj Shannon had Princeton's other two markers.
Coming up with five first-half saves, Vojislav Mitrovic added three more in the third before stopping a pair of tries in the fourth. Keeping the Iona attack at bay, he recorded three stops in each of the two overtime sessions to finish with 16 saves. His 16 stops matched a career-high set against Johns Hopkins on Sept. 7 and Loyola Marymount on Oct. 11.
