Kendall Peterkin Continues Ivy Player Of The Week Reign, Takes Fourth Honor

In each of her first two years, Kendall Peterkin ranked near the top of the Ivy League in both kills and points. As it turns out, that was merely an appetizer for what has been a brilliant junior year. The San Diego native picked up her fourth Player of the Week honor in the first six weeks of the volleyball season, which currently sees the Tigers sitting atop the Ivy League.
Peterkin averaged more than 5.1 kills and 6.0 points per set in leading Princeton to a 3-0 win over Cornell and a 3-1 win over Columbia last weekend in Dillon Gym. Those wins left the Tigers as the lone unbeaten in Ivy League play, though the Tigers have a very challenging two-week stretch in front of them.
The junior currently leads the Ivy League and ranks 11th in the NCAA with 5.26 points per set, and she ranks first in the league and 19th in the NCAA with 4.43 kills per set. Peterkin is also in the Top 50 nationally in aces, and she is the only player in the league to rank in the Ivy Top 10 in kills, points, digs and aces.
"I don't think she has surprised us, because we knew she had this potential," head coach Sabrina King said. "I think what's been great is that she is owning it. You can see her body language is more confident. She's starting to believe, and I think that has made a huge difference."
Peterkin leads the league with 11 double-doubles, including a 24-kill, 19-dig showing against Columbia.
Princeton will host Brown Friday night at 7 pm, and then will take on reigning Ivy League champion Yale Saturday at 5 pm. Admission to both matches is free, and both will be shown on the Ivy League Digital Network.
