| 1992 | As a club team, men's water polo earns first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance. Chad Elliot becomes first of 12 Princeton student-athletes to earn All-America recognition. |
| 1996 | Men's water polo elevated to full varsity status, becoming Princeton's 36th sport. Paul Nelson, who posted a 41-18 record in three club seasons, named program's first head coach. |
| 1997 | Tigers post first winning season as a varsity squad, going 13-11 overall. |
| 1998 | Luis Nicolao named head coach, a position that he still holds. Now in his 17th season, he has amassed a 339-140 (0.708) overall record. |
| 1999 | Princeton captures first of seven CWPA Southern Championships as a varsity program, defeating Navy, 7-6. Kevin Foster becomes first of six Tigers to be named CWPA Southern Player of the Year. |
| 2001 | Luis Nicolao wins first of three CWPA Southern Division Coach of the Year awards after leading the Tigers to a 19-6 record. |
| 2004 | Tigers set a school record with 25 wins, winning the squad's first CWPA Eastern Championship en route to its first-ever NCAA berth as a varsity program. Luis Nicolao named AWPCA National Coach of the Year. |
| 2009 | Going 16-12, Princeton captures Eastern Championship and makes return trip to the NCAA Tournament while recording a top-10 finish in the CWPA poll for the first time since 2004. |
| 2011 | With a 22-10 record, the Tigers win third their Eastern crown and make their fourth NCAA appearance, once again finishing in the top-10 of the final CWPA poll. |
| 2014 | Tigers climb as high as eighth in the CWPA poll - the program's highest-ever ranking. Princeton's No. 8 showing on Sept. 17 is the highest ever by an East Coast program in the poll's modern era. Tigers win Southern Championship with a 12-10 victory over Bucknell. |
The 150th anniversary of the first intercollegiate athletic event in Princeton University history will be Nov. 22, 2014, which will be 150 years to the day that Princeton defeated Williams 27-16 in a baseball game. As part of the 150th celebration, Princeton will be commemorating the history of each of its 38 varsity teams, in reverse order of the time they became varsity programs.
