Catching Up with 1997 Ms. Hockey Annamarie Holmes

In 1997, the second ever Ms. Hockey Award was presented to Apple Valley's Annamarie Holmes. Since then, she has achieved a great number of things that include, but are not limited to, competing on the U.S. National Team, graduating law school at Princeton and joining the Marine Corps. What ended up being a very successful life and career began with this award.
The Ms. Hockey Award is presented to the top senior girls' hockey player in the state. The criteria for the nomination are: on-ice performance, citizenship, academics, extra-curricular activities and coachability. The selection is made by a panel of both college and high school coaches from Minnesota and Wisconsin. The idea is to recognize the senior that best exemplifies leadership within the community, but also on the ice. Annamarie Holmes was exactly this.
