Mitrovic Named CWPA Southern Division Defensive Player of the Week

PRINCETON, N.J. – Princeton men's water polo freshman goalie Vojislav Mitrovic has been named the CWPA Southern Division Defensive Player of the Week after helping the Tigers to a 3-0 showing at the 2014 Princeton Invitational.
In a pair of games against defending Eastern champion St. Francis and Johns Hopkins, Mitrovic faced 44 shots in 64:00 minutes, making 31 stops en route to a 0.705 save percentage.
Helping to spearhead the Tigers' 10-5 win over the Terriers, Mitrovic shut out the opposition during the first half of his first collegiate start, making 10 saves. The rookie then added five more stops in the final 16 minutes to record his first career win.
Against the Blue Jays, Mitrovic made seven first half saves before turning away seven stops in a busy third quarter. Recording two more saves in the final frame, he finished with 16 stops in a hard-fought 10-8 victory.
George Washington's Brian Mojica was named the Southern Division's Player of the Week, with Princeton freshman Jordan Colina, Navy's Thomas Patterson, Bucknell's Stefan Aleksic and Johns Hopkins' Langdon Froomer each earning a spot on the honor roll.
In his collegiate debut against St. Francis, Colina netted three goals, while drawing an ejection and nabbing two steals. He scored another goal and added three steals against Johns Hopkins before finding the back of the net for the third-straight game against Iona.
JHU's Jono Gillette was named the league's Rookie of the Week, with Mitrovic and Bucknell's Grant Curry garnering a spot on the honor roll.
