Princeton's Hoffenberg Named CWPA Southern Division Player of the Week

PRINCETON, N.J. – Senior Drew Hoffenberg has been named the CWPA Southern Division Player of the Week after helping the 11th-ranked Princeton men's water polo team to wins over Cal Baptist, MIT and No. 8 UC-Irvine at the 2014 Bruno Fall Classic hosted by Brown University.
Opening the week against Cal Baptist, Hoffenberg scored three goals on three shots while also drawing five ejections. Against MIT, the co-captain found the back of the net on six of his seven shot attempts while drawing three ejections. Capping off an impressive three-game stretch, he recorded a hat trick in an overtime victory over UC-Irvine, adding five steals.
One of the catalysts to Princeton's stellar weekend showing, Hoffenberg finished with 12 goals, nine drawn ejections, six steals, two blocks and two assists. Through the team's first six games, Hoffenberg currently leads the Tigers in goals (14) and ejections drawn (13), while ranking third in assists (5) and steals (9).
Earning a spot on the league's weekly rookie honor roll, Jordan Colina went 5-0 on sprints, while racking up four goals, seven steals, two assists and two drawn ejections. After tallying a goal and three steals against Cal Baptist, he had a goal, four steals and two assists versus MIT. The freshman standout closed out the week by going 3-0 on sprints with two goals against No. 8 UC-Irvine.
Princeton will take on Johns Hopkins and Navy on Saturday, Sept. 20 before facing George Washington on Sunday, Sept. 21.
