The Princeton men's and women's squash teams will make the trek to New England this weekend to continue their Ivy League journeys.
The fifth-ranked Princeton women (5-2, 1-2 Ivy) actually open competition Friday evening against 10th-ranked Stanford in the Tigers' first match of the season outside of the Jadwin Squash Courts. That match will be played at 7 pm in Providence, site of Saturday's doubleheader against Brown.
The eighth-ranked Princeton men (4-4, 2-1 Ivy) open their weekend Saturday at No. 13 Brown Saturday at noon. This is a crucial spot for the Tigers, as it is their lone match remaining with a team ranked below them in the current standings. The top eight teams make the 'A' flight at the CSA national championships, and the Tigers own wins over No. 9 Franklin & Marshall, No. 10 Penn and No. 11 Dartmouth.
A victory over Brown should put Princeton in strong position in its chase back to the national championships.
The Princeton women follow with a 2:30 matchup at Brown, and then both teams will travel to New Haven, Conn., for noon showdowns with Yale on Super Sunday.
The women will take on fourth-ranked Yale in a potential Howe Cup quarterfinal preview at noon. These two teams met in the 2014 Howe Cup quarterfinal, with the Bulldogs holding off Princeton's comeback attempt for a 5-4 win. The Bulldogs are 2-0 in Ivy play, though they will face second-ranked Penn Saturday afternoon.
The men's team will also face off against fifth-ranked Yale at noon; both matches will be played in a three-shift format. The Tigers nearly upset Yale at Jadwin the previous season, but the Bulldogs came away with a win in the fifth game of the ninth match to hold on for a 5-4 victory.
