Princeton Challenges Reigning Ivy Champs, But Yale Claims Three Tight Sets

The Princeton women's volleyball team continued to push back, continued to rally, against the reigning Ivy champion Yale Saturday evening, but it couldn't find the critical late points in any of the three sets played in a 3-0 loss to the Bulldogs in New Haven.
Princeton's three-match win streak came to an end in a tight 26-24, 25-22, 25-21 loss to the five-time reigning Ivy champion Yale Bulldogs. Princeton held one set point in the opening game and battled out of early deficits in the latter two, but it couldn't scratch out a set against Yale.
Senior Kendall Peterkin led Princeton with nine kills, while junior Cara Mattaliano had eight kills and 12 digs. Freshman middle Nnenna Ibe had seven kills and two blocks, while classmate Brittany Smith had four kills and two blocks.
Freshman Claire Nussbaum had 16 assists, while junior Lauren Miller had 14. Senior Sarah Daschbach had 14 digs, while junior Brittany Ptak had five kills and three blocks.
Princeton will return to the court Saturday evening when it takes on Penn at the Palestra.
