Second-Set Rally Powers Dartmouth Past Princeton Volleyball

Junior Cara Mattaliano posted a double-double with 12 kills and 12 digs, while senior co-captain Sarah Daschbach added 25 digs, but the Princeton women's volleyball team couldn't hold on to an early lead in a 3-1 loss to Dartmouth.
Princeton fell to 0-3 in the Ivy League, but will have an opportunity to get back into the league race during an upcoming home weekend against Columbia and Cornell.
The Tigers raced out to an early lead and held a 15-8 advantage on a combo block from Nnenna Ibe and Kendall Peterkin. Dartmouth was able to get within three points, but Princeton kept the advantage and posted a 25-20 win. The second set featured another strong Princeton start, but the Big Green battled back to grab a lead midway through the set.
Princeton rallied with a 5-2 run to hold a set point, but a block and service ace gave the Big Green a lead. Mattaliano fought off one set point, but the Big Green won the next two points to even the match. That gave Dartmouth full momentum, and the hosts controlled the final two sets for the 3-1 win.
Freshman Brooke Hershberger had a season-high nine kills, while classmate Ibe had six kills and three blocks. Claire Nussbaum, another freshman, had 19 assists and nine digs.
