All-Ivy Standout Kendall Peterkin Becomes 12th Tiger To Reach 1,000 Kills
September 15, 2015 | Women's Volleyball
Senior Kendall Peterkin, a 2014 AVCA All-Region honoree and a two-time All-Ivy League first-team honoree, became the 12th Princeton women's volleyball player in the last quarter century to reach the 1,000-kill mark for her career.
Peterkin finished the Hofstra Invitational weekend with 1,027 career kills, 11th most in Princeton history. She will likely move into the Top 10 this weekend at the Rutgers Tournament, as she trails Lauren Grumet '06 by only seven kills.
"Kendall has been our top offensive weapon for three years," said head coach Sabrina King, who ranks third all-time at Princeton with 1,367 kills. "She is hungry her senior year to leave her legacy, and this is a great start to what I know will be a phenomenal year for her."
Peterkin, who earned the Ivy League Player of the Week honor five times last season, could challenge for a spot in the Princeton Top 5 by the end of her career. If she matched her kill total from last season, Peterkin would rank third at Princeton, 10 kills ahead of her head coach.
Princeton will compete in its final nonleague matches this weekend when it heads to nearby New Brunswick for the Rutgers Tournament. A full preview of the weekend will be posted Wednesday.
