Nation's Top Two Teams Provide Challenging Return For Tiger Men's Squash
January 28, 2016 | Men's Squash
Finals week can be a daunting experience for Princeton students. For members of the squash team, they went from that week to one of preparation for a road weekend at the nation's two top-ranked teams, No. 2 Penn and No. 1 Trinity.
The weekend begins for Princeton in Philadelphia, where the Tigers will take on the second-ranked Quakers at noon in the Ringe Squash Courts. Penn has already won three tight matches at home this season, including a 5-4 win over St. Lawrence and a 6-3 win over Rochester.
From there, the Tigers will head to Hartford, Conn., to take on the top-ranked Trinity Bantams. Trinity is 13-0 on the season, though its toughest contest came last Sunday, a 5-4 home win over Rochester. The Bantams needed an 11-9 win in the fifth from No. 1 player Rick Penders to hold off the upset attempt by Rochester.
Princeton continues its rebuilding season with three freshmen atop the lineup. The trio of Clark Doyle, Spencer Anton and Cody Cortes has handled the top three spots and been quite competitive for most of the season.
Vivek Dinodia, a former Ivy League Rookie of the Year, and Abhimanyu Shah both lead Princeton with five victories this season.
