March 07, 2016 | Women's Basketball
PRINCETON, N.J. – Senior Annie Tarakchian became the 11th player in Ivy League history to win at least eight career Player of the Week awards as she was tabbed as the Co-Player of the Week today, the league announced.
The senior played a major role in helping Princeton sweep its 40th Ivy League weekend in its last 43 opportunities. Tarakchian recorded her second consecutive and 19th career double-double, scoring a career-high 24 points and grabbing a game-high 11 rebounds vs. Harvard on Friday. The West Hills, Calif., native made eight of her 14 shot attempts (57.1 percent) against the Crimson.
On Saturday's Senior Night vs. Dartmouth, the forward just missed another double-double, finishing with nine points and 11 rebounds. She has snagged 11 rebounds in each of the last three games and five of the last seven overall. For the weekend, Tarakchian averaged a team-high 16.5 points, 11 rebounds, 3.5 assists per game behind shooting over 50 percent from the floor (52.4) and 46.2 percent from beyond the arc.
The Tigers will meet the Penn Quakers on Tuesday (5:30 p.m.) at Jadwin for the Ivy League title. The Quakers took the earlier matchup at the Palestra, 50-48 on Jan. 9. That was Princeton's last loss as head coach Courtney Banghart's team has rattled off 12 straight wins.
