No. 11 Men's Water Polo Secures Split During Day 2 Of Mountain Pacific Invite

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. – The No. 11 Princeton men's water polo team earned a split during day two of the Mountain Pacific Invitational at Northgate High School on Saturday afternoon. The Tigers defeated Whittier, 15-9, but lost to No. 11 UC-Davis, 13-9.

Sophomore Ryan Wilson led Princeton with four goals while sophomore Michael Swart recorded a hat trick. Freshman Sean Duncan, junior Jordan Colina and senior Jovan Jeremic secured multi-goal outings in the win.
The two teams played evenly over the first 12 minutes, each tallying four goals. Princeton finished the first half on a 3-1 run to take a 7-5 lead at the intermission.
As the second half began, the Tigers stretched their lead to four at 9-5 with 6:24 left in the third quarter. The important stretch of the contest was when Princeton's offense ended the frame with four consecutive goals to take a 14-7 lead after 24 minutes of game action.

Princeton found itself in an early hole, trailing 4-1, with 2:35 to go in the first quarter. The Tigers was down 7-5 at half, before rallying to tie the contest at 7-all at the 4:25 mark of the third stanza.
UC-Davis held Princeton without a goal for an eight-minute span, scoring five straight tallies to take a 12-7 lead as the clock ticked under four minutes in the game. The Tigers got back within three, but could not get any closer.
Head coach Luis Nicolao's squad wraps up the invitational vs. Air Force tomorrow at 4 p.m.
