VIDEO: Adhitya Raghavan Reflects On His Run To The British Junior Open Semifinals
January 27, 2017 | Men's Squash
Adhitya Raghavan hasn't wasted much time giving a glimpse into both the present and future of Princeton squash this year.
Raghavan, a member of Sean Wilkinson's highly touted freshman class, moved to the No. 1 position in the Princeton lineup during the preseason and has held that spot all season. He opened the season with a pair of victories, but the wins that turned the most heads happened across the Atlantic Ocean.
In early January, Raghavan surprised even himself by reaching the semifinals of the prestigious British Junior Open Championships, one of the biggest squash tournaments in the world — a competition whose winners include Princeton's own legend, Yasser El Halaby '06. He placed third, a finish high above his preliminary seed, and showed the potential he had for a men's squash team loading up on young talent.
Raghavan and Wilkinson recently shared their thoughts on the British Junior Open, as well as the youth within the Tiger program. You can watch the video by clicking the play link above.
Raghavan and the Tigers return to the court next weekend for three Ivy League matches, including a huge home showdown Wednesday night against No. 6 Penn, a match you can watch live on the Ivy League Digital Network. That will complete a Princeton-Penn doubleheader, as the fourth-ranked women take on No. 2 Penn at 5 pm, also on the Ivy League Digital Network.
