Men's Squash Falls In Hoehn Cup Final To Complete Team Season
February 19, 2017 | Men's Squash
Freshman Adhitya Raghavan and sophomore Cody Cortes capped the Princeton men's squash dual match season with individual wins, but they would not be enough to help the Tigers move up a spot in the final rankings.
Seeding held in the finals of the Hoehn Cup Sunday at the CSA Howe Cup Championships, as ninth-ranked Dartmouth claimed a 7-2 win over Princeton.
Cortes finished his srong sophomore season with a team-best 11 wins, including an exciting 3-1 win at the No. 3 spot. Three of the four games went extra points, including a 13-11 finale for Cortes.
Dartmouth clinched the match in the second shift, but Raghavan was undaunted in the final shift. He went down 2-0, but came back with wins of 11-3 and 11-5 to even the match against Alvin Heumann. Raghavan finished strong, posting an 11-8 win in the finale for his seventh victory of the season.
Sunday also marked the final match in the career of senior co-captain Ben Leizman, who fought out of a 2-0 hole to force extra points in the fourth game, but he ultimately fell to complete his team career.
The CSA individual championships will be held in two weeks at Dartmouth.
