Original Eleven: Mike Wagner Interview, Columbia Reflections
October 01, 2018 | Football
Mike Wagner led all of FCS football in sacks before a season-ending injury last year, and he recorded two more Friday night in Princeton's Ivy-opening 45-10 win over Columbia. However, he only began thriving at his position when head coach Bob Surace moved him into a pass rush drill when it needed more bodies. Wagner reflects on that freshman-year practice, and how far he's come from that, during this week's edition of the Original Eleven. He also discusses the big jump he made in 2017, why this defense has been so strong this fall, and a freshman teammate who has already caught his eye.
Also, Craig Sachson and Cody Chrusciel look back on the Columbia win, including why some mid-game adversity will be a good thing moving forward, and what new headache opposing defensive coordinators now have to deal with.
