Youssef Ibrahim Becomes 13th Men's Squash Rookie Of The Year, Joins Adhitya Raghavan On All-Ivy Team

Freshman Youssef Ibrahim came into his debut season at Princeton as one of the most highly touted recruits in the history of men's college squash. He more than lived up to the expectations that came along with it, and he was honored Feb. 20 as the 2018 Ivy League Rookie of the Year following a vote by the league coaches. He joins sophomore teammate Adhitya Raghavan on the 2018 All-Ivy League team after that duo helped Princeton to a third-place finish in the league.

Ibrahim is the 13th player in program history to win the Rookie of the Year award, a list that includes Jeff Stanley (1986), Rick Hartigan (1992), Jack Wyant (1993), Peter Yik (1997), Peter Kelly (1999), David Yik (2000), Yasser El Halaby (2003), Robert Hong (2005), Mauricio Sanchez (2006), David Letourneau (2008), Chris Callis (2009), Todd Harrity (2010), and Vivek Dinodia (2013).

Ibrahim completed the regular season with a 12-3 record, and he went 6-1 in the Ivy League. His most impressive win of the season came when he defeated reigning CSA national champion Osama Khalifa 6-11, 11-7, 12-14, 11-8, 11-7 during a Feb. 9 match in New York City. That was the only loss of the season for Khalifa, who was voted the Ivy League Player of the Year.

Raghavan followed up his All-Ivy freshman season with another strong performance at the #2 position. He went 9-5 on the season and produced a winning Ivy record, including a huge 3-1 victory in Princeton's upset of Penn in Philadelphia during the regular season.
