Where Are They Now: Todd Harrity
June 29, 2019 | Men's Squash
From Class Notes, PAW (April 2019)
Todd Harrity '13 notched this biggest win of his pro-squash career in January as he beat the world's 22 ranked player, Tsz Fung Yip of Hong Kong, in the opening round of the Tournament of Champions.
Harrity said he competed in the tournament in previous years but had come up empty. This time though, the unique location of the tournament - played in a glass-enclosed squash court in New York City's Grand Central Terminal - gave him the confidence to win the match.
"I kind of love New York City and have friends there, so I was just feeling relaxed and feeling motivated and happy to be on the court," he said.
With the win, Harrity is now the top American men's player and is ranked 44th in the world, the best ranking since he turned pro after graduation. He said his goal it to break into the world's top 40, and he's been training with a coach in Bristol, England to get there.
"I'm just enjoying the process and really motivated to just see how good I can possibly be," he said.
