Women's Volleyball Downs Dartmouth, 3-0

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Princeton University women's volleyball team returned to Dillon Gymnasium Friday night and overcame Dartmouth College, 3-0 (25-10, 25-22, 25-16).
The win was the Tigers eight-straight; Junior Avery Luoma led the way with a match-high 15 kills, while junior Lindsey Kelly led the match in assists with 31 and service aces with two. Junior Cameron Dames added a match-high 12 digs and senior Julia Schner finished with a match-high four blocks.
While Dartmouth took a 2-1 lead, a Schner kill sparked a 5-0 run that saw Princeton surge ahead, 5-2. The Tigers maintained their lead, then at 15-9 went on a 7-0 run that put them comfortably ahead at 21-9. A junior Elena Montgomery block gave Princeton set point, and the Tigers would win the set 25-10.
Princeton raced out to an 8-5 lead in the second set, but a 6-0 Dartmouth run gave the Big Green an 11-8 advantage. The Tigers battled back to take a 16-15 lead following an emphatic kill by sophomore Kathleen Bishop kill, but Dartmouth responded with a 3-0 run to take an 18-16 lead. Head Coach Sabrina King called a timeout with Dartmouth up 21-18; Princeton would then close the set out on a 6-0 run, and prevail in the second set with a score of 25-22.
The third set started out as a back-and-forth battle, but with the Tigers up 10-8 a kill by Montgomery sparked a 5-0 run that saw Princeton take a 15-8 lead. From there, the Tigers held on to win the set 25-16 following an emphatic Schner kill, and the match 3-0.
