Ibrahim Wins Twice as Title Bid Rolls on at CSA Championships

Through the first two matches in the Pool Trophy draw, top-seeded Youssef Ibrahim defended his top seed, defeating Yale's Nadav Raziel and Conrelll's Veer Chotrani each in three games to advance to the semifinals on Saturday.

Ibrahim will face Penn's fifth-seeded Aly Abou El Einen in Saturday's semifinal at 1 p.m. Abou El Einen played in the second spot in the teams' dual match earlier this season, where he defeated Karim Elbarbary in four games. Abou El Einen defeated Drexel's 13th-seeded Matias Knudsen in the quarters after Knudsen defeated Virginia's fourth-seeded Aly Hussein in the first round. Hussein has been the only player to defeat Ibrahim in a Princeton match this season, doing that in the season opener in November.

In the other semifinal, Harvard's second-seeded Victor Crouin will face Penn's third-seeded Andrew Douglas. Ibrahim defeated both in dual matches earlier this season, Crouin in five games and Douglas in a sweep. The semifinal winners will meet for the title on Sunday at 12:30 p.m.

Ibrahim is one of four Tigers who will be playing on Saturday. Cole Becker and Elbarbary each won twice to advance to the semfinals of the Molloy North and Molloy East draws, and Zain Ahmed won a consolation match after dropping his opening match in the Molloy East draw and will compete in a consolation semifinal. Becker's start is at 10:30 a.m. with Ahmed and Elbarbary at 12:30 p.m.

Thomas Rosini saw his run end with a quarterfinal loss after a first-round win in the Molloy West draw.
