Rosini's Win Seals Season-Opening Victory for No. 5 Princeton Over No. 6 Drexel
November 15, 2023 | Men's Squash
Thomas Rosini's match was the last one on court Wednesday night as the No. 5-ranked Princeton men's squash team battled No. 6 Drexel in Philadelphia, and the Tigers' season-opening win hinged on the senior tri-captain pulling through on court three.
Rallying from dropping the first two games, Rosini did pull through to help deliver a 5-4 win to the Tigers after the teams split the first eight matches off court. Karim Elbarbary, Avi Agarwal, Alhassan Khalil and Gordon Lam had wins at one, six, eight and nine to get Princeton its first four victories.
Rosini's match was one of just two to go the distance on the night, with Drexel's Guido Lindner and Princeton's David Beeson going back and forth before Lindner took the match in five. Rosini saw Youssef Bastawy win the first game 11-2 and then hold off Rosini 12-10 in the second game to put himself on the brink of a win, but Rosini closed it out with 11-4, 11-7 and 11-6 wins.
Princeton will have its home opener Sunday against No. 14 Western Ontario in a 2 p.m. start in Jadwin Gym.
